Theater Students Participate In Festival
On Friday, March 4, Ms. Rebecca’s Theater Arts students from Garden City High School participated in the Annual Hofstra Shakespeare Festival High School Scene Competition. Students from theater departments across Long Island are invited to attend this competition held annually by the Hofstra University Department of Drama and Dance as part of their Shakespeare Festival. Awards are given for Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Ensemble. Freshman Liam Bingham, playing Don Pedro, took home the award for Best Actor.
Students presented Act 2, Scene 1 from “Much Ado About Nothing.” Senior Peter Cianciotto played the part of Benedick, opposite junior Caitlin Donohue, playing Beatrice. Hero and Claudio were played by sophomore Erin Lynch and freshman Ryan Johnston, respectively. Other cast members included junior Andrew Bosco, sophomore Stefanie Hanson, and freshmen Caitlin Crowley, Kristen Focella, Amanda Gogh, Rebecca Levine, Avery Santelli, Brittany Stein, Shaquetta Taylor and Dan Barden. Ms. Rebecca is a graduate of the Hofstra Drama Department and is currently a doctoral fellow in the School of Education.

Timothy Gavin Blair, a junior at Washington and Lee University, has earned dean’s list status for the recently ended winter term. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas G. Blair of Garden City, NY 11530-6404.
Dean’s list status at Washington and Lee represents a term grade-average of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.
