Chamber To Hear County Comptroller's Report

On Wednesday, May 25, the Chamber of Commerce's will hold its final luncheon of the season, 11:30 a.m. at the Garden City Hotel. Howard Weitzman, Nassau County Comptroller, will present to Chamber members and guests, a report on Nassau County's current financial status. Residents are cordially invited to attend.

Since taking office in January 2002, Howard Weitzman and his staff have been instrumental in helping the county achieve its historic fiscal turnaround. Under Mr. Weitzman, the Comptroller's Offisce has reinvigorated its role as the county's fiscal watchdog, focusing audits on the areas of county government with the biggest expenditures where potential savings would be the greatest.

Comptroller Weitzman has conceived and launched the NassauRx Card -- an innovative prescription drug discount program that provides substantial savings off retail prescsription prices. The card is accepted at more than 90 percent of the county's drigstores and provides discounts of up to 40 percent on commonly prescribed drugs.Come and hear the item-by-item report on the accomplishments of the comptrollers's office headed by Mr. Weitzman during his 3-year tenure.

At 11:30 a.m., the Chamber will continue its Business Showcase with member businesses exhibiting their wares before the noon reception period. Luncheon will be served promptly at 12:30. Advance reservations ats $60 for Chamber members and $65 for non-members are required. There will be open seating with tables of 10 reserved. Please call the Chamber by Friday, May 20 to reserve.
