Village Sports
The Recreation Department will run a trip to Adventureland Amusement Park for 6 th-9th graders on Tuesday, April 26. The trip will leave from St. Paul’s at 11 am. the children will enjoy three hours of unlimited rides and return to St. Paul’s around 4 pm. The price of $16 per person covers the cost of admission and bus transportation. This trip will be supervised by the Recreation Department’s staff. To register for this trip, please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall by Friday, April 22. Full payment in cash must accompany registration. The Recreation Department has scheduled the following sports camps this summer for children who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. Age/grade requirements are noted. Further extensive information on each camp will be available in this column at a later date.

re-school summer camp
The Garden City Recreation Department will be conducting a Pre-School Camp for girls and boys 3.5 to 5 years old who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. Children who attend this camp MUST be 3.5 years by the start of the session they choose. This camp will be held at the St.Paul’s Cluett Hall from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The cost of each one week session will be $75. Arts and crafts, music, nature, and stories will fill the one and one half hour class. The sessions are as follows:
Session I: July 11 thru July 15
Session II: July 18 thru July 22
Session III: July 25 thru July 29
Session IV: August 1 thru August 5
Session V: August 8 thru August 15.
Children must be 3.5 years by the start of the class. a copy of the child’s birth certificate must accompany the registration.

Summer basketball camp (3rd - 6th Grade)
The Garden City Recreation Department will be conducting a Youth Basketball Camp for boys and girls who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City from June 27 to June 30. The purpose of this program is to provide instruction in self improvement, basketball fundamentals, team play, group cooperation, and most important of all, FUN! This camp will be held in the St. Paul’s Field House under the direction of Pat Kennedy.
This instructional camp will be offered for boys and girls entering GRADES 3 & 4 in September, 2005 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. A session for boys and girls entering GRADES 5 & 6 in September, 2005 will be run from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There will be a limit of 40 children for each session.
The cost of this camp will be $60 which includes a T-shirt. Please make selections carefully as fees are not returnable.

Youth tennis camp
The Garden City Recreation Department will conduct a Tennis Camp program for boys and girls aged seven and up who are residents of the Incorporated Village of Garden City. The sessions will run according to the following age groups: 7 & 8 years, 9 through 11 years, and 12 years or older. The age of the child at the start of the session will determine which session the child may attend. This instructional program will be conducted in two hour classes. each child may sign up for a maximum of two sessions . The dates, times and fees are as follows:

aerobics class schedule
Now that the weather is turning warmer, it is time to think about getting back into shape. The Recreation Department’s aerobics classes are just the thing to get your heart pumping and your body moving. Classes are taught by Pat Kennedy and Joy Cody, experienced instructors who try to tailor their programs to the ability level of the participants.
The easy way to participate in our aerobics classes is to purchase a “20 Class Pass”. By purchasing this pass, you can attend any class that fits your schedule. The cost of a pass is just $60. Passes may be purchased at Cluett Hall or in the Recreation Office in Village Hall. If you would like to try a class or two before purchasing a pass, daily admission to the class is $4.00.

Adult Swimming At Adelphi
The Recreation Department offers Adult Swim Sessions at Adelphi University’s indoor pool located at Woodruff Hall. This free program is open to any adult, 18 years or older, who is a resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The pool is open for use Mondays through Thursdays in two sessions: 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Anyone interested in this program must sign up through the Recreation Department. You must register each day you would like to swim by calling the Recreation Office at 465-4075. No reservations will be taken ahead of time. For further information, please call the Recreation Office.
men’s softball league for the spring
The Recreation Department is now accepting Team Application Packages for our upcoming Spring Businessmen’s Softball League. Packages can be obtained for the Recreation Department in Village Hall. Rosters will be accepted from the first 16 teams meeting the following eligibility requirements:
1. Teams comprised of residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City.
2. Businesses located within the Inc. Village of Garden City
3. Teams comprised of employees of the Inc. village of Garden City.
The season is slated to begin the third week in April. For further information or to pick up a packet, please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall.
Women’s Spring Tennis
Tune-up
All residents of the Inc.Village of Garden City are welcome to join our Women’s Spring Tennis Tune-Up. This program is geared to competitive and tennis team players. All sessions will be run at the Community Park Tennis Facility. The cost of each session is $60. We have divided this program into five sessions as follows:
