3rd Grade Girls LacrosseDominates Manhasset
The Girls 3rd Grade Grey Team overwhelms Manhasset. Garden City dominated from the opening face-off as Shannon Callahan moved the ball to Sarah Galzerano who fed Alex Riceman for the opening goal. The offense in the 1st quarter was most impressive as the girls built a 4-0 lead.
Michelle Manning, Erin Hollis and Alex Riceman led the offense. The midfield play of Casey Cullen, Maggie Rogers, Tara DeAngelo, Shannon Callahan and Sarah Galzerano swarmed all over ground balls and kept the pressure on with crisp passes. Goals were scored by midfield players, Maggie, Sarah and Shannon.
The 2nd quarter started with a Manhasset possession as the good sportsmanship rule applies anytime a team is down by 4 or more goals. The defense was ready as Brianne Griffith, Katherine Pearson and Kristen Fitzsimons turned away Manhasset attackers. A great save by Kristen Noonan sparked Garden City during the quarter. The girls led 4-1 at halftime.
Ali Montgomery, Paige Cicchetti, and Rosie Tomao started on offense in the 2nd half and quickly got Garden City rolling again as 3 great passes led to Maggie Rogers scoring her second goal. A quick goal by Manhasset made it 5-2 Garden City. Garden City's midfield took control once again as center Sarah Galzerano, Tara DeAngelo, Kristen Noonan, Dani Durand, and Katherine Pearson applied constant pressure, resulting in a goal by Sarah.
The 4th quarter opened up with a quick goal by Manhasset. Leading 6-3, Garden City's stinging defense turned it on. Maddie McQuire, Sage Fuller and Meaghan Mulhall shut down Manhasset attackers. Goalie, Casey Cullen made 3 sensational saves in the 4th quarter. When the horn blew, the exhausted 3rd graders had a most impressive victory over the well-regarded Manhasset Squad.
