AAUW Book & Author Luncheon

The Garden City Branch of the American Association of University Women will hold their annual
Book and Author Luncheon
on Friday, April 29 at 12 noon
at the George Washington Manor in Roslyn. The event is a benefit for the Educational Foundation and Legal Advocacy Fund of the A.A.U.W.
This year’s program will include presentations by three authors. Connie Mandracchia De Caro is a member of the North Shore Branch of A.A.U.W. who has written two books about Italy. Her first book was Sicily: The Trampled Paradise which was followed by Sicily: The Trampled Paradise Revisited. Glenna Davis Sloan is a resident of Garden City and a graduate professor at Queens College. Her book, Tales Out of School, traces her education from her student days in a one-room school house in Canada to her academic career as a teacher at as large urban college.
Ron Roel is the editor of the Saturday Act Two Section of Newsday. Mr. Roel will discuss the topics of each week’s edition and the importance of this feature.
A raffle will also be held at the luncheon. Prizes include gift certificates and wine baskets. This fundraiser also provides awards for graduating Seniors at Adelphi and Hofstra Universities and Garden City and Mineola High School. Tickets are thirty-six dollars.
