'Crohn's Disease'Topic Of Free Lecture

2005-04-15 / Community

Winthrop-University Hospital will offer a free lecture on "Crohn's Disease" Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at 7:00 PM. Held at Winthrop's Community Outreach Center at 101 Mineola Boulevard at the corner of Second Street in Mineola, the program will address the management of the disease, as well as inform the public about a clinical trial of an innovative new treatment.

James Grendell, MD, Chief, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Winthrop, will describe both traditional and newer treatment options, as well as discuss a research study of an investigational medication that holds the prospect of controlling the disease, without suppressing the body's defense mechanisms against infection. Those interested in volunteering for the study will have an opportunity to speak with representatives from Winthrop's Clinical Trails Center. A question and answer period will follow the lecture.

Admission is free, but seating is limited and reservations are required. To register for this program, call (516) 663-8305.

The lecture is made possible by a grant from Berlex Laboratories, and coordinated by Winthrop's Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition and Winthrop's Clinical Trails Center. For information on other clinical trails at Winthrop, call (516) 663-9582.
