'Multiple Sclerosis: New Treatments On The Horizon'
Winthrop-University Hospital's Perspective in Health Series will present a free lecture, "Multiple Sclerosis: New Treatments on the Horizon," on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at 7:00 PM. Held at Winthrop's Community Outreach Center at 101 Mineola Boulevard at the corner of Second Street in Mineola, the lecture will provide an overview of MS, its symptoms, the diagnostic process and the latest information on treatments.
Malcolm Gottesman, MD, Chief of the Division of Neurology and Director of the MS Treatment Center at Winthrop, will discuss the use of the MRI, as well as the newly introduced medication Tysabri, a monoclonal antibody that has been withdrawn from the market by the FDA. Sharon Urevich, RN, FNP, will discuss the management of MS symptoms. A question and answer period will follow the lecture.
