Rams Start Season

The Girls Garden City Ram's third grade Gray team started the season off with a spectacular 6-1 victory over Wantagh.

Center, Casey Cullen, won the opening draw and completed a great pass to defensive wing Shannon Callahan, who ran the length of the field and hit attacker Dani Durand, who fired it in the net. It was the first of 2 goals for Dani. Shortly thereafter, the play of Garden City's midfielders, Maggie Rogers, Katherine Pearson, Shannon Callahan, and Sarah Galzerano kept the ball in Garden City's offense zone, which allowed attackers, Sage Fuller, Kristen Fitzsimmons and Brianne Griffith to see much action. Brianne Griffith benefited by netting 2 goals. The defense played outstanding in the first half anchored by Erin Hollis, Tara DeAngelo, Alex Riceman, Meaghan Mulhall, and a standout goal play by Maddie McGuire.

The Second half saw Garden City swarm all over ground balls with Michele Manning, Rosie Tomao, Paige Cicchetti and Ali Montgomery leading the way. The defense again was superb, with Kristen Noonan directing traffic in goal and strong defense played by Maddie McGuire, Erin Hollis, Alex Riceman and Tara DeAngelo. The midfield dominated with Casey Cullen and Maggie Rogers throwing super passes to Sarah Galzerano and Shannon Callahan, who each scored a goal in the 4th quarter.
