adventureland trip during spring break

The Recreation Department will run a trip to Adventureland Amusement Park for 6 th-9th graders on Tuesday, April 26. The trip will leave from St. Paul's at 11 am. the children will enjoy three hours of unlimited rides and return to St. Paul's around 4 pm. The price of $16 per person covers the cost of admission and bus transportation. This trip will be supervised by the Recreation Department's staff. To register for this trip, please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall by Friday, April 22. Full payment in cash must accompany registration. summer camp schedule announced

The Recreation Department has scheduled the following sports camps this summer for children who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. Age/grade requirements are noted. Further extensive information on each camp will be available in this column at a later date.

Basketball entering grades 3-6 week of June 27

Lacrosse entering grades 3-6 week of July 11

Baseball ages 6 to 12 by start of camp week of July 18 & 25

Soccer ages 6 to 12 by start of camp week of August 1 & 8

Tennis ages 7-18 weekly beginning June 27

Peewee Tennis ages 4-6 weekly beginning June 27

aerobics class schedule

Now that the weather is turning warmer, it is time to think about getting back into shape. The Recreation Department's aerobics classes are just the thing to get your heart pumping and your body moving. Classes are taught by Pat Kennedy and Joy Cody, experienced instructors who try to tailor their programs to the ability level of the participants.

The easy way to participate in our aerobics classes is to purchase a "20 Class Pass". By purchasing this pass, you can attend any class that fits your schedule. The cost of a pass is just $60. Passes may be purchased at Cluett Hall or in the Recreation Office in Village Hall. If you would like to try a class or two before purchasing a pass, daily admission to the class is $4.00.

Classes are held in Cluett Hall at the St. Paul's complex according to the following schedule:

Monday 9:00 a.m.

Wednesday 8:30 a.m.

Thursday 8:30 a.m.

Thursday (step) 7:15 p.m.

Sunday 6:45 p.m.

Adult Swimming At Adelphi

The Recreation Department offers Adult Swim Sessions at Adelphi University's indoor pool located at Woodruff Hall. This free program is open to any adult, 18 years or older, who is a resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The pool is open for use Mondays through Thursdays in two sessions: 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Anyone interested in this program must sign up through the Recreation Department. You must register each day you would like to swim by calling the Recreation Office at 465-4075. No reservations will be taken ahead of time. For further information, please call the Recreation Office.

men's softball league for the spring

The Recreation Department is now accepting Team Application Packages for our upcoming Spring Businessmen's Softball League. Packages can be obtained for the Recreation Department in Village Hall. Rosters will be accepted from the first 16 teams meeting the following eligibility requirements:

1. Teams comprised of residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City.

2. Businesses located within the Inc. Village of Garden City

3. Teams comprised of employees of the Inc. village of Garden City.

The season is slated to begin the third week in April. For further information or to pick up a packet, please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall.
