Don’t wait to see “Waiting for Moyers”!! The Garden City Community Theatre’s 2005 production of original musical comedy is a truly memorable blast. The show, written and directed by Brad and Ruby Gustavson, is a delight. Upcoming performances are Friday April 8 at 8 p.m., Saturday April 9 at 7 p.m., with a special Sunday matinee on April 10 at 3 p.m. The show is on stage at Gardner Hall at the Garden City Community Church on Stewart and Whitehall. For tickets, call 746-1061.

The show is a humorous look at the efforts of a community church group trying to write and put on a play to honor the 75th anniversary of their church. The playwrite spends more time selling her treasures on “Ebay” than writing the script. They hire a totally inept director, Sidney Fromage, whose previous experience included the choreography of “Frogs on Ice” at the Roslyn Duckpond.

The second act starts and ends with a marvelously written tribute to the actual history of the local Community Church. However, the fun continues as even the act of putting on a ‘play within a play’ gets out of hand. The clever timing is delightful as the cast flies on and off the stage a la “Noises Off’ whenever the rumor that “Bill Moyers” of PBS fame might actually be coming to see the show.

If you’ve seen one of the previous GC Community Theatre productions, you know you are in for some great entertainment. Many of the tunes come from Broadway and the movies, with adaptations to fit the original scripts. The GCCT gets better each year and this show tops them all.
