Mr. Sprotte was born at Jamaica Hospital in Queens on July 2, 1936 and graduated from Duke University in 1958. He moved to Garden City seven years ago from West Hempstead. He was a retired plumbing contractor.

Mr. Sprotte was the past president of St. Paul's Fathers Association; a member of the Board of Governors of St. Paul's School; a past director of Jamaica Hospital; and director of New York Community Bank. He was also past president of West Hempstead Little League, the West Hempstead Athletic Association and the West Hempstead Basketball Association.

Mr. Sprotte is survived by his wife, Ann Marie, of Garden City; children Robert and Jackie of Garden City; Jeffrey and Tracey of Plandome; Kurt and Anne of Garden City; brother Donald of Rockville Centre; and 11 grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass was said on February 28th at St. Thomas the Apostle Church with Msgr. Thomas Hartman officiating. Interment followed at St. John's Cemetery in Middle Village. Donations to Good Shepherd Hospice are appreciated. Arrangements were handled by Fairchild Sons.
