If you enjoy outdoor gardening, be a “Gardening Angel” with the Garden City Bird Sanctuary. Starting Saturday April 2, from 9-12 (weather permitting) join a new group of fellow gardening enthusiasts. All ages are welcome, and you don’t have to have experience. Meet at the main entrance gate on Tanners Pond Road, bring your favorite gardening tool, a beverage, and dress for the weather. Join expert gardeners such as Ryan Santelli or Rob Alvey and learn a bit about gardening tips and tools. Enjoy the opportunity to be an active part of Garden City’s community nature preserve. Show off your garden at the May 14th 10th Anniversary Festival! There is no cost for participants, and if you donate 10 hours work, you can earn an official “Gardening Angels” tee shirt. Come on down! For info, contact Rob Alvey at 326-1720.

On Saturday March 19, the Gardening Angels got a “jump start” on Spring thanks to a phone call from Theo Tomao who wanted to volunteer. Susan Warhurst was also anxious to get outside and garden. They and their volunteers Jonathon and Brooke Warhurst, Rosie Tomao and Regan Mulrooney spent a few hours on a sunny warm Saturday refurbishing the garden areas which had been donated by Garden City Girl Scouts and by the Garden City Jewish Center. They cultivated, trimmed back the Montauk Daisies, weeded, planted a flat of yellow pansies, and mulched the garden. Hands got dirty, but the smiles were great!
