On March 6th 2005, the GC Freedom U-11 girls along with coaches and parents were awarded the Long Island Junior Soccer League Sportsmanship Award at the Huntington Hilton for the 2004 Fall Season. The award was given by the founder of the Sportsmanship competition for Long Island. The girls displayed sportsmanship on and off the field, supporting each other at the sporting events and other performances going on continuously throughout the season. The award is sponsored by Modell's Sporting Goods, and is recognizes teams from all over Long Island.

In sports today, it is easy to get caught up in the excitement and intensity of the game. It is however a true test to maintain the balance between discipline, sportsmanship, love and respect for the game. We as coaches would like to thank the girls and parents for allowing us to be a part of developing these girls and sharing the experience of watching the girls grow as individuals and as a team.
