Actress Robin Laneportraying artist Mary Cassatt. The Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead cordially invites its members and guests to meet “Mary Cassatt” at their General Program on Wednesday, April 6th at 1:30 p.m. at the Garden City Casino, as Robin Lane, well known actress, author, director and producer assumes the persona of the renowned artist, the only American painter to be accepted into the French Impressionist group that included Degas, Pissaro, Monet and Renoir. A strong independent artist, Mary Cassatt never let being a woman in a man’s world stop her from realizing her life dream of capturing on canvas the world that she inhabited.

Robin Lane has gained a well-deserved national reputation for her portrayals of historical women. In her engrossing dramatization Mary Cassatt will be brought to life through the use of period costumes, props, a poetically-written script, a vivid imagination and creative performance artistry. Ms. Lane has been bringing history to life since 1980. Her original one-woman plays have been performed in theaters, schools, colleges, art centers and museums throughout the United States.

Robin Lane studied voice at the New England Conservatory of Music and Berklee College of Music. She earned a BFA in theater at Boston University. Ms. Lane has starred in such musical productions as “Company,” “Cabaret,” “Follies” and ‘Man of La Mancha.” Her non-musical credits include leading roles in “The Little Foxes,” “The Autumn Garden,” “Medea” and “The Winter’s Tale.”
