Happy “Father’s Day!”
Conor Sproat with his father.
Miss McCavera’s second grade recently hosted their annual June-in-January Father’s Day Brunch. The children had been preparing for the event since December. They practiced reciting five poems about fathers using their most expressive voices. They compiled a calendar for the new year that listed all the fathers’ birthdays. They sang a song called “My Dad.” They each made a special “tie” with a photograph and a description of why their father is so special. They wrote these compositions in the computer room with the help of their fifth grade school buddies.
On the day of the event, they met their fathers in the hallway and escorted them to the classroom for refreshments. Muffins had been made the day before with the help of some wonderful mothers. The children loved spending time with their fathers and showing them around the classroom. They had many interesting activities and work to show them. It was a special morning.
