Girl’s Varsity Bowling Team Competes In County Tournament

The Garden City girl’s varsity bowling team coached by Mr. Rockler qualified for the Nassau County Championship held at Garden City Bowl on Sat. Feb. 5th. The team finished in second place in Conference two during the regular season and was seeded 10th out of 16 qualifying teams.
During the regular season the team was led by seniors Melissa Muscarella, Sadie Sarcona, and Lauren Follo. Melissa, also the team captain, broke the Garden City girl’s record for both high game (234) and high series (646). She also ranked fourth in Nassau County with an impressive 180 average which qualified her for the individual tournament held again at Garden City Bowl on Sat. Feb. 12th. Sadie finished the regular season with a 154 average and Lauren with a 141 average.
The girls bowled 6 games in the team tournament and did an outstanding job exceeding their regular season individual and team averages. As during the regular season, the big three came through again especially Lauren who average 157 for the day (16 points above her season average). Melissa and Sadie had high games of 205, 189 and 207,177 respectively. Rounding out the rest of the five member team were sophomore Beth Boudart and freshman Aubrey Dailey. Beth had a personal high game of 155 and Aubrey averaged 128 for the 6 game series which was 4 points higher than her season average.
In the individual tournament, once again Melissa bowled outstanding finishing 9th out of 30 qualifiers. She had high games of 181, 189, and 204.
