During the Mid Winter Break, the Recreation department will conduct a Gym Program for Village Youth in St. Paul’s Field House. The gym program will be held from Tuesday, February 22 through Friday, February 25. The schedule for this program will be as follows:

Grades K and 1 9 to 10:30 a.m. Planned Activities

Grades 2 and 3 10:30 a.m. to noonPlanned Activities

Grades 4,5,6 noon to 2 p.m.Planned Activities

Grades 7-12 2 to 5 p.m.Supervised

holiday break movie

On Wednesday, February 23, The Recreation Department will show the movie “Shark Tales” (rated PG, 90 minutes in length) in Cluett Hall. Show time will be 1 p.m. Admission is free and snacks may be purchased for a nominal charge. The movie will be supervised by the recreation staff.

preschool arts and crafts

Registration for the last session of the Recreation Department’s Preschool arts and Crafts classes will take place in st. paul’s Cluett Hall on tuesday, March 1 st at 10 a.m.

This six week program is open to children aged 3 1/2 through 5 years old who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The classes meet once a week for 45 minutes. The schedule is as follows:

Mondays 12:15 to 1:00 p.m.

Wednesdays 12:15 to 1:00 p.m.

Thursdays10:45 to 11:30 a.m.

The cost of this six week program is $30. For further information, please call 465-4075.

6th grade recreation night

The Recreation Department will hold a Sixth Grade Rec. Night on Friday, March 4 th from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Paul’s Field House. Admission is $5.00. A DJ will provide music, volleyball and basketball will be available, and refreshments will be sold at a nominal charge. This event will be supervised by the Recreation department’s staff. aerobics class schedule

Now that the weather is turning warmer, it is time to think about getting back into shape. The Recreation Department’s aerobics classes are just the thing to get your heart pumping and your body moving. Classes are taught by Pat Kennedy and Joy Cody, experienced instructors who try to tailor their programs to the ability level of the participants.

The easy way to participate in our aerobics classes is to purchase a “20 Class Pass”. By purchasing this pass, you can attend any class that fits your schedule. The cost of a pass is just $60. Passes may be purchased at Cluett Hall or in the Recreation Office in Village Hall. If you would like to try a class or two before purchasing a pass, daily admission to the class is $4.00.

Adult Swimming At Adelphi

The Recreation Department offers Adult Swim Sessions at Adelphi University’s indoor pool located at Woodruff Hall. This free program is open to any adult, 18 years or older, who is a resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The pool is open for use Mondays through Thursdays in two sessions: 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Anyone interested in this program must sign up through the Recreation Department. You must register each day you would like to swim by calling the Recreation Office at 465-4075. No reservations will be taken ahead of time. For further information, please call the Recreation Office.

The Recreation Department has tickets on consignment to the following show at the Nassau Coliseum:

Ringling Bros. CircusThurs. March 17 7:30 p.m. $18.50

Champions On IceMon. April 4 7:00 p.m. $60.50

Note: All Ringling Bros. tickets for Saturday have been sold.

Tickets for these shows can be purchased at the Recreation Office in Village Hall. Residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City may purchase up to six tickets for any one show. Tickets must be purchased in cash, no checks will be accepted. For further information, please contact the Recreation Office at 465-4075.

SPRING ROLLER HOCKEY League 2005

The Garden City Recreation Dept. is pleased to announce its Spring Roller Hockey League for Boys and Girls Ages 6-8 and 9-12. League Play will begin on Friday March 4, 2005.

Evaluation Days will be held in order to make even teams. Your child needs to attend one of the following evaluation dates:

Friday, February 4, 11 or 18, 2005 at the following times -

Ages 6-85 to 6:30 p.m.

Ages 9-127 to 8:30 p.m.

All games will be played at the Garden City Community Park Roller Hockey Rinks. Ages 6-8 will have their games on Fridays at 4:30 p.m. Ages 9-12 will have their games on Friday’s at 7:30 p.m.

The price per player is $50. Applications are now available at Village Hall on Stewart Avenue and in the Tennis Center at Community Park. Please fill out an application and return it to Village Hall by our deadline of February 2, 2005.

last pool interview date

The Garden City Pool Staff will conduct their last set of interviews on Saturday, March 5 th at the Recreation Office in Village Hall. If you are presently a high school junior or older and are looking for a great summer job, stop in the Recreation Office in Village Hall, pick up an application, and sign up for an interview.
