Catholic Daughters of the Americas - Court St. Anne #107 will hold its annual Midwinter Scholarship Bridge on Thursday, February 24th at 12 noon in McCloskey Auditorium of St. Anne’s School located on Dartmouth Street, Garden City.

The menu will consist of Chicken Salad, Pasta Salad, Rolls and Butter, Coffee, Tea and Dessert all for only $15.00.

In Memoriam

Arthur Beneventi

On Monday, February 7, Arthur Beneventi passed away at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. Arthur was born to the late Dr. Francis A. and Mary E. Beneventi on April 28, 1943.

A memorial service will be posted at a later date.

Mr. Beneventi was a real estate attorney, with most of his work practicing out of New York City and surrounding suburbs. Arthur served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Arthur was a former resident of Garden City.

Surviving Mr. Beneventi is his only sister, Cindy Findley of Greensboro, NC, two nieces, Linda Findley of San Francisco, CA and Elizabeth Caran and husband, Chris of Apex, NC.

...... Genarose Sanzo

Genarose Sanzo, a resident of Garden City for 41 years, died on February 3rd after a lengthy illness. She was 91 years old.

Mrs. Sanzo was born in Brooklyn on May 27, 1913. She worked at St. John’s University as assistant director of financial aid. Mrs. Sanzo graduated magna cum laude from the university at the age of 60. She was active in the community, and was a member of the Garden City Bridge Club, Garden City Seniors Duplicate Bridge Club, the Rosary Society, Garden City Casino, Garden City Community Club and the Women’s Club. She also volunteered at Winthrop University Hospital.

Mrs. Sanzo is survived by her husband of 68 years, Richard, of Garden City; daughter Eileen Sanzo, Ph.D., of Long Beach; sons Richard of Union, NJ, John of Millerton, NY, Paul of Denver, CO and Jerome of Stamford, CT; and six grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass was said on February 7th at St. Joseph Church. Interment followed at Holy Rood Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Fairchild Sons.
