A Word From The Publisher
We hope that residents take the time to attend some of the work sessions on the 2005-06 school budget which are being presented by the Board of Education. Each session covers a different portion of the budget, and it is at these sessions that the actual decisions on spending get made.
Upcoming sessions include:
Monday, Feb. 28Budget Work Session #3
Instructional components and
Regular Board Meeting
Monday, March 7Budget Work Session #4
All Non-instructional.areas/Wrap up
Administrative and Capital Components
Monday, March 14Board of Education Work Session
Final Adjustments and
Refinements (if necessary) and
Regular Work Session
Every year, after the budget is fully developed and has been presented to the public, we receive letters objecting to particular items. It seems to us that the time to make one’s positions known is now, rather than later. Once the budget is developed, and a public hearing has been held, it becomes difficult to change prior to the public vote.
The Board spends a great deal of time on these sessions. We hope that residents take part in them too.
