on february 5, a truck stop was conducted at Clinton Rd. 20 trucks were inspected; 12 trucks were taken out of service, with 19 weight violations. 114 tickets were issued....between 9:30 am and 11:00 am, on Feb. 10, someone damaged a 1991 Honda and took a $200 AM/FM CD stereo, at County Field 14....on feb. 11, police arrested a 46-year-old West Hempstead woman for allegedly stealing $617 in assorted merchandise including a Jones NY blazer and skirt, as well as Lord and Taylor jewelry, at the store on Franklin Ave....on the same day, a 21-year-old Wantagh man allegedly punched a 21-year-old Merrick man at the GC Hotel and he was arrested for assault. The victim was taken to Winthrop Hospital for a broken tooth and lacerations to the face....On february 8, between 10 am and noon, someone stole a backpack at Hagandorf Hall, Adelphi University. It contained numerous credit cards and personal papers....between feb. 11 and 12, someone threw golf balls and broke 4 windows at the apartment house on Seventh St. Damage was $2,000....on feb. 12, 5:05 am, PO Oswald arrested a 39-year-old Oyster Bay man for alleged DWI (refusal) at Clinton Rd. The motorist was charged with DWI (a felony due to a prior DWI conviction) and for a suspended license, also a felony....on feb. 13, 4:15 am, PO Oswald arrested a 33-year-old Hempstead man for alleged DWI (.10%) and for felony suspended license on Franklin Ave....po Hennessy responded to the scene of a car accident at Maple St./Old Country Rd. on Feb. 13, where a second car left the scene after rear-ending a car. A 26-year-old Jamaica man was later charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. The driver of the first car, a 44-year-old Great Neck man was taken to Winthrop Hospital....on feb. 10, between 8:30 pm and 4 am, unknown persons took an attendants pocketbook containing credit cards and personal papers, at a restroom....on feb. 14, 9 am, a 34-year-old Douglaston man who claimed his brakes failed, struck a 33-year-old Valley Stream woman who was waiting inside a bus shelter at Old Country Rd. and County Seat Drive. The woman suffered multiple serious injuries and was transported to Winthrop Hospital. The motorist was charged with a defective brake light and he was also taken to the hospital for his injuries....
