As a result of the combined efforts of the Officers and Directors of the Garden City Community Fund, (GCCF) along with their many volunteers, a generous check for $12,000 was presented to Robert McGuire, the Executive Director of the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, Inc. from Donald N. Rose, the President of the GCCF. This significant contribution will assist ucpn continue its mission of helping individuals with disabilities.

The United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, Inc., founded in 1948, is an independent, non-profit health agency serving over 1,800 children and adults with disabilities. The ucpn provides a myriad of programs and services at their main facility in Roosevelt and at 14 other locations throughout Nassau County. The agency runs a school, The Children’s Learning Center, that serves boys and girls, ages 2 - 21, who are challenged by a variety of disabilities including cerebral palsy, speech/language delays and other developmental disabilities. An Early Intervention program is also available. There are programs for adults including the community-based Day Habilitation, the Work Center and the Connections program that provides assistance for adults who have sustained traumatic brain injuries and stroke. Primary Medical Care along with Dentistry is provided on-site along with a Speech/Hearing/Language Program; Physical and Occupational Therapy, Adaptive Wheelchair Seating and Computer Access Evaluation are among some of the quality services offered.
