Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray (second left), Councilman Ed Ambrosino (second right), Town Clerk Mark Bonilla (right) and Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin (left) present an award medal to Kaitlyn Rose of Garden City at the Eighth Annual Make a Difference Awards ceremony held at the Nathan L.H. Bennett Pavilion at Hempstead Town Hall. Kaitlyn is a teenager who has already played an active role in her community. She lectors at Mass, works at the local library, volunteers at a group home for disabled adults and volunteers at a home for unwed mothers. Not only does she go out and help others, she brought a widowed veteran who had recently lost his son into her home for Father’s Day, and then took the time to listen to the gentleman’s stories from World War II.
