Gerard P. Lundquist Gerard P. Lundquist has been unanimously selected as the Western Property Owners’ Association candidate for Mayor.

Mr. Lundquist is currently Deputy Mayor. He has served three terms as a Village Trustee and has been on the Board of Trustees since April, 1999. He also serves as the liaison to the Cultural and Recreation Commission, is the Chairperson for the Committee to fill Vacancies for Boards and Commissions, is Chairperson of the Board of Ethics and is a member of the Public Zone Committee. In prior years, he has served as Second Deputy Mayor, Police Commissioner (two terms), Commissioner of Public Works, Fire Commissioner, and as the Commissioner of Finance. He has also served on several subcommittees including the Traffic Commission (including one term as Chairperson), the Public Zone Committee, the Committee to Fill Vacancies, and the Executive Compensation Committee.

Prior to his tenure as Trustee, Mr. Lundquist had served the Western Property Owners’ Association since 1995 in several capacities including President, Vice President and Director. Mr. Lundquist also served on the Board of Directors of the Water Authority of Western Nassau from 1996 through 2002 and was instrumental in the early stages of the transition of Jamaica Water to the Water Authority of Western Nassau, resulting in significant savings to the residents of Garden City that are served by the Authority.

Mr. Lundquist is employed by KeySpan Energy as a Manager and has had assignments throughout the New York region, including Director of Construction, Long Island; and Director of Field Operations, Long Island. He has recently been transferred to New York City serving in a similar capacity. The assignment includes insuring the safety, security and reliability of the natural gas distribution system. Prior assignments have included Project Manager for the JFK Airport Cogeneration Facility, and the Stony Brook Cogeneration Facility.

Mr. Lundquist has a Bachelors in Civil Engineering from The Cooper Union, a Masters of Business Administration from Adelphi University, and a Masters of Science in Economics and Finance from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. He is a New York State Registered Professional Engineer.

Mr. Lundquist has lived in Garden City since 1989. He is married and has three children: Matthew, a graduate of Cornell University who is currently attending Stony Brook Medical School, Daniel, who is a sophomore at Cornell University, and Lauren, a GCHS senior. His wife Mildred is an elementary school teacher. Mr. Lundquist has long been a supporter of youth programs and previously coached in Garden City baseball and football leagues for more than ten years.

The members that have served on the nine member Nominating Committee were, John Arditto, John Blair, Mary McCarraher, Tom Pinou, Jim Redding, Michael Ryder, Jacquelyn Schick, Bruce Wildermuth and Paul Muscarella as Chairman Pro-tem.
