Music Bridges Generations

On Sunday, December 6, the newest members of Church-in-the-Garden, the all-girls gospel chorale, traveled to West Hampton to meet and perform for the oldest member in their church, Dr. Ruth Harley. Mixing Gospel favorites like “It’s me, it’s me it’s me, o’ Lord standin’ in the need of prayer,” with Christmas carols, the girls serenaded Ruth and her new WHCC friends. The exchange of social energy was very rich. The girls were so excited to meet, touch and talk to their senior member 102 years young. Ruth, who has always carried a special affection for young people, enjoyed their attentions and rose to the occasion. For an afternoon, West Hampton Care Center was alive with the sound of music. The children’s chorale is the work of Sonia Wilchard. Surrounding Ruth Harley from L-R was: Tyra, Gabriela, Genesis, holding “pinky” Kaylan, Jeniyah, Laileni and Jasmine.
