At 11 a.m. on Monday, January 17 the Children’s Department will be showing Family Films of African Folktales in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. These short films will run for 60 minutes at are suitable for children ages 4-10. Refreshments will be served. Neither tickets nor registration are necessary. An adult must accompany all children under the age of 8.
New! The Children’s Department will be holding a Winter Reading Club - Join the IditaREAD! Registration and the club will begin on January 17 and conclude February 5. This activity and all the storytimes, book discussions, special programs schedules for both preschool and school-age children are listed on the new flyers available in the Children’s Room. Registration for the Winter/Spring Season began on January 3, 2005. As was true for last season, you may register online at www.nassaulibrary.org/gardenc/ or in person in the Children’s Room for the Winter/Spring season. The storytimes will begin on January 18.

Library programs are presented, free of charge, through the generosity of the Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Priority for registration and participation is given to children who are Garden City Public Library cardholders.s

Book Discussion Group, Breathing Lessons

Moderator Gloria Weinrich will lead a discussion of this book about a marriage: "the expectations, the disappointments, the way that wife and husband can fall in love all over again. The way that everything and nothing changes."
