The Garden Department of the Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead offered a discussion by Sherman Wolfson on “The Orchids of Long Island” on Wednesday, November 17 at the Garden City Casino. Mr. Wolfson is an orchid grower and authority on orchids that grow in the wild on the east end of Long Island. His slides were beautiful and his talk both interesting and educational. There as an impressive crowd of members and guests attending.

Dorothy Holl and Rosalie Kelly were at the Garden Shop table and Bea Mercadante was in charge of arrangements. Pourers were Grace Murphy and Marilyn Kerr. The door was handled by Marilyn O’Brien and Josephine Krawczyk and Mary Gagliardo were in charge of guests. Regina Dowling was the photographer for the day and Chairperson Muriel Urban was in charge of the decorations - orchids, of course.

The Community Club offers a wide variety of quality programs, trips and creative classes from October through May. For information about membership in the Community Club, call the club office on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 746-0488.
