Adelphi University is now accepting applications for its annual Prize for Leadership, an annual award recognizing Garden City high school students for their academic performance and extraordinary displays of volunteer and community service. Each winner receives $1,000 as well as two tuition-free courses at Adelphi; University Library privileges; an opportunity to attend a dinner with a visiting scholar artist, or dignitary; and an inscribed clock.

All high school juniors who are Garden City residents are welcome to apply. Applicants are evaluated based on their demonstrated record of superior academic performance in relation to their potential and exceptional leadership skills in voluntary pursuits and/or community service activities. Winners are expected to attend Adelphi's annual Prize for Leadership Dinner in October 2005 and attend one University cultural event presented by a distinguished guest and join the dinner in the guest's honor.

To be considered for the 2005 Prize for Leadership, applicants must submit a completed application as well as at least one letter of recommendation, a high school transcript, and activity sheet.
