Still Some Entertainment Books Left
The Garden City Chapter of CMF has a few Entertainment books still available. The 2005 issue is jam packed with Great Discounts and with the free online membership you can get so many offers. There are lots of local restaurants and some so good they are worth the drive. They now offer over 10,000 Hotels at half price and you are entitled to a rebate if you stay more than one night. There are more stores listed also. The offers are much easier to locate by town or category. Everyone should have one in their car. The donation of $20 can be recouped in one or two transactions. Call Marilyn Davan at 354-5788 or Dee Devries at 741-8986 to order or get more information.

Osteoporosis: Bone Up For Your Health
Topic of Free Lecture for seniors Sponsored by Winthrop-University Hospital
Osteoporosis is a progressive disease in which bones become fragile and are more likely to break. There are currently an estimated 10 million Americans suffering from the disease, which left untreated, can progress painlessly until a bone breaks, typically in the hip, spine, or wrist. That’s why it’s important to understand osteoporosis and learn what you can do to protect your bone health.
On Wednesday, January 12, 2005, Winthrop-University Hospital’s Health Update for Seniors program will present a free program, “Osteoporosis: Bone Up for Your Health,” at the Mineola Community Center, 155 Washington Avenue in Mineola. Registration and blood pressure checks begin at 1:15 PM, followed by the lecture at 1:45. Admission is free, but seating is limited and reservations are required. For information and to reserve your space, call (516) 663-3916.
Jane Moore, RN, MA, CCRC, Clinical Research Coordinator of the Winthrop Osteoporosis Research Center, will provide an overview of osteoporosis, and discuss how nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, combined with the latest osteoporosis medication, can help maintain bone health. A question and answer period will follow.
Health Update for Seniors is coordinated by the Winthrop Home Health Agency and Geriatric Health Services, part of the Institute for Family Care.
