Margarette B. Loranger
Mary Jo Crowley

Mary Jo Crowley (Thompson) of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Garden City, died October 18 th, 2004. Survived by her husband Francis B. Crowley III, sons Brian (Anne-Marie), Michael (Holly), daughter Margaret, her sister Patricia (James) Rossetto, sister in laws Anne Crowley of Long Beach, Mimi (Tom) Ryan of Freeport, Barbara Thompson of Garden City, and seven grandchildren. Predeceased by her father and mother Arthur F. Thompson Jr. and Mary G. Thompson, also her brother Arthur F. Thompson III.

Services will be held November 23 rd, at West Point.

...... Margarette B. Loranger

Margarette B. Loranger “Peggy,” 88, wife of the late Franklin C. Loranger, passed away on November 7 at the Bel-Air Nursing Home in Goffstown, New Hampshire.

Peggy graduated from Ohio Weslgan University. Peggy was the co-founder in 1954 of The Garden City League of The Industrial Home for the Blind that is now known as the Helen Keller Services for the Blind in addition to being a volunteer at Winthrop Hospital.

Dorothy M. Goepfert
Peggy is survived by her two devoted daughters by her first husband, William A. Norris, Jr., Gale Norris Mohtashemi of Garden City and June Norris Sheldon and her husband, Dennis of Temple, New Hampshire.

Peggy is the cherished grandmother of Mark Montashemi, Esq., his wife Jennifer, of Manhattan and Kevin Montashemi, M.D. of Washington, D.C.

Private gravesite services will be held at Juniper Hill Cemetary, Bristol, Rhode Island.

...... James Fennessy

James Fennessy passed away suddenly on October 13, 2004. He received a Mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church on October 18 and was laid to rest at Holy Rood Cemetery.

Jim was born on January 19, 1962 to Michael and Kathleen Fennessy. In 1972 his family moved from Cypress Hills, Brooklyn to Garden City. He was the brother of Cathleen (Whelan), Michael, Marie (Wendorff), Deirdre (Regan), Patrick, Julianne (Shirley), John, Eileen (Weller) and Daniel.

Jim graduated from Garden City High School in 1980 and attended Wentworth University. He worked in the construction field since he was a young boy at his father’s knee. Since 1992, Jim worked as a General Supervisor of Construction with the Shannon Group, Garden City, where he worked with Michael and Deirdre. On November 28, 1998 he married Sharon Madden, daughter of Mary and the late Harold Madden of Garden City. He is the father of James (5), Michael (3) and Megan (1).

His favorite pastimes were spent with his wife, children and family. He loved to fish, garden, ski and of course, sing Irish Ballads in that resonant tenor voice. Jim was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a generous, thoughtful, kind and compassionate man who truly touched and brightened the lives of many. He will be greatly missed.

The Fennessy and Madden families wish to express their deepest appreciation and sincere thanks for the many acts kindness extended to them at this sad time.

...... Nicholas S. Nicklis III

Nicholas S. Nicklis III, a resident of Garden City for 65 years, died on October 22nd. He was 65 years old.

Mr. Nicklis was born in Rockville Centre on March 20, 1939. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1957 and Syracuse University in 1964. He worked as an investment broker.

Mr. Nicklis is survived by his wife Carol, of Garden City; and children Stephen, of North Carolina and Elizabeth, Casey and Katherine of New York City; one grandchild; and sister Martha Dopman of Garden City.

...... Dorothy M. Goepfert

Dorothy M. Goepfert, 71, died on October 20, 2004, after a brief illness, while visiting with relatives in Bromley England.

Dorothy moved to Garden City after her marriage to Victor H. Goepfert in 1983. She soon became an active member of the community. She was a member of the Garden City Branch of The Homemakers, where she served as past president from 1996 to 1998. She was a member of The Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead. She was Past Chairman of the Garden Department. An avid bridge players, Dorothy was most recently playing with the Senior Duplicate Bridge Club. She was also a member of the Garden City County Club.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Barbara (Brian) Tishuk of Illinois, son Brian (Millie) Starke of Maine, stepsons Victor (Stephanie) Goepfert of Huntington Station and William (Cynthia) Goepfert of Garden City. She was the loving grandmother of Jillian, Peter & William Tishuk, Gloria, Kenneth, Barry, Amanda, Carolyn, Lisa & Brian Goepfert, Cheri Madden & Susan Miller. Loving great grandmother of Victoria, Alex & Ashton Madden. Services in England were held on October 26 th.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 20 th at 10:00 am at the Garden City Community Church, Whitehall Blvd. Garden City, New York
