on nov. 19 and 20, the twigs of Winthrop-University Hospital is holding events at the St. Paul’s Field House, including a holiday boutique shopping, and candlelight house tour. On Nov. 20, a holiday craft fair is being held at the Unitarian Church from 10 am to 4 pm. On Nov. 21, there will be a Cathedral Choir Concert at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City at 4 pm.... on sat. nov. 20 registration begins for Holiday Wall Hanging scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 4, in the young adult section at the GC Public Library. Also that day, the Library is holding a discard booksale from 9 am to 5 pm, which also runs from 1 pm to 5 pm on Sunday, Nov. 21. On Sat. Nov. 27, from 11 am to 12:45 pm, the family film, Peter Pan is being shown at the Library.... on monday, nov. 29, 7:30 pm at Barnes and Nobles join actor Rodney Hakim for a group reading of one of Shakespeare’s lesser-known works, Timon of Athens, which is set in the fifth century B.C. and traces the evolution of a man. Barnes & Noble is located in the Country Glen Center in Carle Place.... if you’re thinking of adopting a dog, try the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter in Port Washington first. police report: Mischief & mayhem

on nov. 16, police arrested two 19-year-old Garden City men around 10:45 pm after they were found inside the Garden City Public Library on Seventh Street. Evidently, the pair had entered the building through a skylight in the roof. They were charged with criminal trespass.... on nov 14, 2:15 am, police responded to the scene of an argument at the Posh Club, Garden City Hotel. A 23-year-old Floral Park man had approached a 27-year-old Center Moriches man and allegedly had struck him in the face, causing the man to have laceration to the face and a broken nose. The charge was assault 3 rd degree.... on nov. 15, someone took $40 in U.S. currency as well as a Visa credit card from a wallet at Adelphi University during morning hours.... Between nov 7 and 14; someone took patio furniture valued at $500 from a St. James St. North residence.... On nov. 14, there were various reports of sideview mirrors to cars found damaged, in the areas of Tannerspond Rd., Stewart Avenue and Homestead Avenue.... on nov. 11, someone threw a sprinkler head at the second story window of a Boylston St. house, causing $225 in damage.... on nov. 12, 12:50 am, PO Hickey stopped a 50-year-old Amityville man for alleged DWI (.19%) after the motorist allegedly crossed double yellow lines on Cathedral Avenue.... on nov. 12, a robber, described as either a black or Hispanic, male, 5’6” - 5’8” tall, thin, wearing a 3/4 length jacket, black hat, with an umbrella, grabbed a 39-year-old Garden City woman as she walked home from the railroad station towards Clinton Rd./Willow St. He threw her to the ground and took her handbag, which contained about $40,000 in jewelry. Fortunately, the handbag and jewelry were later recovered and an investigation continues.... on nov. 12, police conducted a truck stop on Clinton Rd., where 5 trucks were inspected, with 36 tickets issued and 1 truck taken out of service.... someone threw pumpkins at a 1999 Dodge van parked on Kilburn Rd., sometime during the morning of November 10. There was $780 in damage.... on nov. 10, a 19-year-old Rosedale man was arrested for criminal trespass 3 rd degree at the Adelphi University campus. The man had received a letter from the University stating that he was a persona non grata and he had violated that letter.... on nov. 9, a 50-year-old Hollis Queens woman was arrested for having allegedly left the scene of car accident, which occurred on Oct. 26....

on nov. 10, a carbon monoxide detector malfunctioned at a Monroe St. house.... on nov. 11, smoke from cooking activated a detector at a Beech St. residence. Natural ventilation was used to remove smoke.... a water leak occurred on the 2 nd floor at a Franklin Avenue building on Nov. 13.... on the same day, the FD rescued a person who had been trapped in an elevator at the Bank of New York on Seventh St., after the elevator service opened the door.... a boiler was in need of service at a Brompton Rd. residence on Nov. 14.... a power surge occurred at the Social Work Building, Adelphi University, on Nov. 14.... on the same day steam from rice cooking on a stove set off an alarm at the GC Community Church.... radiators leaked water onto ceiling light fixtures in a first floor kitchen and dining room, at a Harvard St. house, on Nov. 15.... firemen shut down gas and disconnected all power to a stove that had a leak in an apartment on Seventh St., on Nov. 16.... a carbon monoxide detector malfunctioned at a Brixton Rd house, on Nov. 17....That’s all this week.
