Fifth-grader Darian Dill of Garden City was one of the winners in this year’s Fire Safety Poster Contest sponsored by the Garden City Fire Dept. St. Anne’s fourth-grade musicians practiced with their flutes under the guidance of band teacher Lisa Becker. Professional actor and recording artist Josh Cruz sang to Mrs. Owczarek’s class. Nursery teacher Pat Cipriani brought the Halloween season to her classroom, recently joining her 3-year-olds in costume for the day. He was the first black American saint. Second-grade students proudly showed off their family heritage during international day. St. Anne’s School students and teachers are using a new laptop computer and a classroom Jeopardy game, both donated by St. Anne’s Class of 1984 in memory of their deceased classmate, David Connor. Thanks go to Kathleen Sweeney of the Class of 1984 for leading the fund-raising to provide these tools to the school. Mrs. DeSimone’s first-grade showcased some of the amazing work they did during an author study of Tomie DePaola. They read 20 different books, wrote poetry and even made gnocchi from scratch!
