police report: Mischeif & mayhem
on dec. 2, 9:55 pm, PO Madden arrested a 21-year-old Hempstead man for driving with a suspended license and for false personation on Main St. in Hempstead. The initial reason for stopping the motorist was because of his misuse of a cell phone.... on dec. 8, two lawn ornaments valued at $60 were found damaged at a Boylston St. residence.... on the same day, PO Touhy arrested a 40-year-old Charlotte North Carolina man for aggravated unlicensed operation 2 nd degree (14 suspensions, 5 dates).... on dec. 12, 4:10 am, PO Oswald arrested a 30-year-old Hempstead man for driving on the wrong side of the road at Clinton Rd./Meadow St., alleged DWI (.18%).... PO florio arrested an 18-year-old Flushing man for alleged DWI (.19%) on Old Country Rd. at 3:15 am, on December 11.... on the same day , burglars stole $2400 from a desk drawer at the St. Anne’s Rectory.... on dec. 10, 1 pm , two females, a 21-year-old Long Beach woman and a 46-year-old Long Beach woman, allegedly stole over $1200 in merchandise, including 2 Coach handbags, shirts, undergarments and a dress, at Lord and Taylor.... on dec. 12, a 73-year-old Hempstead man allegedly hit a light pole and fire hydrant at Nassau Blvd. and then left the scene. Police found the motorist later on - on the ground behind bushes on Whitehall Blvd. and he was arrested for alleged DWI (.17%).... PO Cristiano arrested a 38-year-old Garden City man for alleged DWI (.12%) and the possession of marijuana at Cherry Valley Ave./Fourteenth Street, on Dec. 19, after the motorist hit a tree there. He was not injured.... between Dec. 7 and 8, someone stole two license plates from a 2003 Toyota parked on Willow Street.... on dec. 14, a wallet, containing $25 in U.S. currency, and credit cards, was taken from Harvey Hall, Adelphi University.... on dec. 14 a 35-year-old Maples Street homeowner called police because of a fire in a garbage pail. The Fire Marshal’s office was notified due to the injuries on the homeowner’s hands and feet.... on dec. 10, a truck stop was conducted on New Hyde Park Rd. The NY State DOT and Nassau County Weights and Measures were present. 79 tickets were issued; with 17 trucks inspected and 8 trucks taken out of service. There were 13 weight violations. Also, on Dec 10, 7:31 pm, PO Pontolillo observed a motorist on Hilton Ave. who had failed to signal a lane change. The driver, an 18-year-old Garden City female, was subsequently arrested for zero tolerance (.05%), possession of marijuana, and the failure to signal a lane change. Her passenger, a 17-year-old Garden City male, was arrested for the possession of marijuana....
fire responses:
a booster/biosolve was used after a car accident occurred at Stewart Ave./Nassau Blvd. on Dec. 8.... on dec. 10, dust from construction triggered an alarm at a Franklin Court house.... the occupant of a Brixton Rd. house lit fires in 2 fireplaces on Dec. 12, which caused a light smoke condition. The FD opened and removed the flue cap and mechanical ventilation removed smoke.... a pizza box had accidentally been left in an oven, which was turned on, at a Brook St. house, on Dec. 12. The box ignited - and the FD arrived and removed it from the oven.... there was a call for a propane tank fire at a Huntington Rd. house on Dec. 14. An investigation revealed that it was only a grease pan fire.... a small leak occurred near a meter at a Willow St. residence on Dec. 14 and Keyspan was notified....That’s all this week.
