Olga and Roman Brygider, Christmas 1964
Olga and Roman Brygider, Christmas 1964 Olga Brygider

Early Thanksgiving morning, the Lord came for Olga Brygider and took her into heaven after several years struggle with Parkinson’s. But soon that night, Olga came back upon angel wings to share her love with husband Roman as well as sons Roman, Brandon and Clifford. The Brygiders thank God for releasing her from suffering, and rewarding their mother’s loving service on Earth over 76 years of life.

Born Olga Kathleen Androsky to Michael Androsky and Sophie Spryn in New York City, Olga went on to graduate first in her class from Washington Irving High School; where she would develop God-given gifts of singing soprano and playing piano. Her exceptional intellect and talent were also shown by achieving 100% on NYS Regents exams in accounting / business law, as well as winning a full college scholarship. She was also active at church, where Olga met Roman Brygider. They were soon to marry, in June 1949, with their greatest talent: enduring love!

Following several homes in New York and North Carolina, Olga finally came to Garden City and settled her family on Tullamore Road beneath tall oak trees in April 1964. Olga Brygider then took on multiple roles as Cub Scout den mother, Sunday School teacher, choir vocalist, member of numerous church and other community boards, committees, etc. And all the while, she kept chasing after her “Three Little Indians” - sons who miss their mother dearly! (Roman, GCHS ‘71 is winner of three Emmy Awards via Channel 21; Brandon, GCHS ‘74 is an attorney / geophysicist professor at Hofstra; and Clifford, GCHS ‘76 is a consummate carpenter / painter and guitarist.)

Olga’s immediate family also encompasses her sister Eva and Boris Pankow of Hollis, daughter-in-law Barbara Fagan-Brygider and grandchildren Gabrielle and Alexander of Dix Hills, Long Island.

A special Memorial Service will be held to celebrate the living memory of Olga Brygider at the Garden City Community Church in time for the Holiday Season and New Year on Saturday, December 18th at 3 p.m.

The entire Brygider Family extends an invitation to all for joining with song and worship in honoring their mother’s new role as Guardian Angel.
