X'Ania Marie Saldana On November 7, 2004, X'Ania Marie Saldana, a 2003 graduate of Garden City High School was elected as President of the Connecticut College Republicans (CCR). X'Ania ran alongside three qualified CCR members. She is the first female candidate to be elected to this position at Connecticut College.

Prompted by this year's critical Presidential election and the fact that she was now eligible to vote, X'Ania threw her support to the CCR. She was elected almost immediately to the Executive Board position of Fundraising Chair where she demonstrated her drive and initiative to better the CCR by organizing several fundraising events, most recently during Parents Weekend in October.

The CCR met with two great successes this year: the victory of Connecticut's Republican Congressional incumbent, Rob Simmons and most importantly, the re-election of President Bush and Vice President Cheney. With the elections now over, the CCR, headed by X'Ania can now concentrate on Compassionate Conservatism. First on the Agenda are a string of Outreach Programs geared towards helping the New London community. For example, the Thanksgiving Food Drive for the Gemma E. Moran United Way Food Bank.

X'Ania '07, a Sophomore and double-major in International Relations and Hispanic Studies is working towards combining a Law career with her Political aspirations.
