Church Celebrates At Worship Service
75th Anniversary Chairpersons Kris and Frank Harder
The Garden City Community Church held the opening ceremony of its 75th anniversary season of celebration at a worship service on October 17. Many former clergy and staff members returned to help the congregation celebrate. They all participated and the Reverend Dr. James Gettemy, pastor emeritus, delivered the sermon. reverend James Adelmann, senior pastor, introduced each guest and asked them to share their past positions at GCCC as well as their present assignments.
A luncheon attended by 170 members followed in Gardner Hall. It was deliciously prepared by Melva Victorino with help from the youth of the church and various Board members. After the meal was served, Reverend Adelmann introduced former church members who had returned for the special event. Reverend John Livingston, former associate minister, and his wife, Judy, entertained attendees with some beautiful show tunes and their beautiful voices! The Rev. Geoffrey A. Black, N.Y. Conference Minister of the United Church of Christ, presented Reverend Adelmann with a certificate of congratulations from the conference.
