Halftime The U12 Boys Gladiators continued their march into November with a convincing 3-1 win over the Cold Spring Harbor Roadrunners this past weekend at St. Paul's. The Gladiators who were playing their last home match of the 2004 Fall season came into this game having gutted out a tough 1-0 win at Port Washington the previous week.

Things started out slowly for the boys as CSH came out clicking on all wheels and within minutes had taken a 1-0 lead. As in the past the Gladiators would respond as the forward play of Pallai-Bingham-Confort-Trikas kicked it up a notch and the middies led by Proctor-Lynch-Reynolds-Quinn-Barbato started to push forward and press the CSH defense into a retreat and with about 15 minutes to play the Gladiators were able to spring Matt Confort free inside the 18 and tie the game at 1-1 going into the half.

Cauchi saves w/Tarzian, Callahan & Reynolds The 2nd half start had a similar look to it as the Gladiator "D" led by its "Iron-man" Sean Callahan and his henchmen Nick Fusco-Brandon Badgett-John Tarzian-Sean Mahon kept the CSH attack at bay and 10 minutes into the half, Kyle Lynch fed a streaking Matt Confort to goal and a 2-1 lead. The Gladiators wanted more as the acrobatic Vincent Tavernese was taken down inside the penalty box and awarded the PK. Sean Bingham was robbed as the CSH keeper made a great stop on the PK and play resumed.With the Gladiators applying pressure all over the pitch, the CSH defense had a hand ball call in the box call against them and Coach Fusco elected Sean "Bigfoot" Mahon to take the PK, Sean sent a rocket into the upper corner and a 3-1 lead. The CSH team tried to mount a last ditch effort but the Gladiator keeper and man between the pipes James Cauchi played his aggressive style of play and stopped any attack that came his way.

Tavernese draws PK w/ Lynch, Confort & Bingham The Gladiators take the next 2 weeks on the road and finish their 2004 Fall season against Elwood and Hauppauge. Till next time: 1-2-3 Gladiators.
