Marguerite Rix sends the ball down the field. On Saturday, October 30, the Garden City Freedom, Girls U-11, traveled to Oyster Bay to challenge the Lightning.

The Freedom took the lead in the first half scoring 2 goals, one by Gabby Barklow and the second a team effort achieved by Kelly Sprotte passing the ball to Kristen Conboy who followed through fort the goal. Two other attempts to score by Gabrielle Zafonte and Liz Stutzmann were blocked by the Oyster Bay goalie.

The defense team of Olivia Chessman, Olivia Giordano and goalie Jessie Gunther kept Oyster Bay from scoring in the first half.

The offensive line of Courtney Basel, Marguerite Rix, Gabby Barklow and Liz Stutzmann along with halfbacks Kristen Conboy, Katherine Kiely, Jessie Gunther, and Kristy Pelizzoli were able to keep the Freedom dominant on the field in the second half as well.

Goalie Gabrielle Zafonte made a great save when Oyster Bay got a direct kick on goal. However, they were able to score one goal in the second half.

The game ended with a 3-1 score after Gabby Barklow scored her second goal of the game with a great assist from Liz Stutzmann. Congratulations, Freedom, on another victory!
