GC Golden Eagles U11 Girls Soccer Team Stays Unbeaten
The Golden Eagles celebrate another victory
The Garden City Golden Eagles U11 girls soccer team took over sole possession of first place in Nassau Division II last Saturday with a 3-2 victory over the Plainedge Strikers. With the victory, the Golden Eagles improved to 5-0-0 in the league, good for 15 points, with four league matches remaining. Caitlin McGuinness had a huge day for the Golden Eagles last Saturday. Known for ability to play many positions and for her expert ball control skills, Caitlin showed the offensive side of her game — with all three goals. The game was barely a minute old when Kimberly Ryan sent a corner kick into the goal mouth area. Caitlin McGuinness wasted no time in putting it past the Plainedge keeper for a 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, Caitlin scored again from in-close and the Golden Eagles looked as though they were going to win in a rout.

Despite pressure on the Plainedge keeper, with strong offense by Christina Mangels, Alexandra Bruno and Catherine Dickinson, the game remained 2-0 at halftime.
Caitlin McGuinness scored her third goal of the game midway through the second half to make it 3-0 Golden Eagles. Plainedge scored twice in the final minutes to make it look closer than it really was.
