Liz Stutzman setting up throw in to Courtney Basel, Gaby Barcklow and Kristen Conboy On Sun. Oct. 24 G.C. Freedom had a make up soccer game against a talented unbeaten Port Washington team.

In a tough end to end game Freedom came up on the short end of the score, experiencing its first loss of the year. Port Washington scored in the beginning of the first half on a deflection, but our defense led by the typical standout play of Gaby Zafonte, Cara Durand and Olivia Chessman held Port Washington scoreless for the rest of the half. The strong play of our midfielders Liz Stutzman, Jessie Gunther and Katie Kiely and strong throw ins by Kristi Pelizzoli kept Port Washington off our side of the field. Despite repeated attacks on the Port Washington golie by fowards Gaby Barcklow, Kristen Conboy, Marguerite Rix, Courtney Basel and Kelly Sprotte all of Freedom’s shots were repelled by Port Washington’s fine goal tending. Freedom missed the strong play of Lauren Wiezel at midfield and and Olivia Giordano at defense.
