New Street Sweeper Placed In Service

The Village's Department of Public Works recently took delivery of a new 2005 Elgin Pelican 4-cylinder turbo charged diesel engine Street Sweeper. This sweeper joins two other sweepers in the on-going effort to clean approximately 74 miles of Village streets. The sweeping program continues throughout the entire year and includes 50 acres of public parking areas as well as parking areas owned by the Garden City School District. The Village's sweeping program (outside of the leaf collection) is to clean each street on a two-three week cycle.

This new addition to the Village fleet was purchased under the Capital Project Budget at a cost of $129,975 which includes a five year Maintenance Plan. Following the scheduled maintenance program for the sweeper, required repairs will be performed by the Village's trained mechanics who ensure it will be properly maintained and continue to serve the Village.
