On Sunday October 3, 2004 Garden City Boys U-16 team faced off against the Dix Hills Devils 2-0. The match started under the sun filled skies at 3:10 pm with the Mustangs taking first possession. The Garden City boys applied early pressure that created opportunities. The rock solid defense James Ladner, Blaise Ancona, Chris Ciaffa, Justin Kirschner, and Brian Wysocki played picture perfect throughout the game. The midfielders Luke Mitchell, Sebastian Gomez, Dan Lisoski, Chris Dioguardi, and Chris Pirog played with intensity and great dribbling skill to create space. The forwards Matt Colantonio, Manny Messina, Jeremy Lloret and Alex Buck used quick passes and pure speed to dominate the Devils. The goalie, Kevin Volpe had six saves and recorded his first shut out of the season. In the 17th minute of the game Dan takes a free kick from outside the box and scores. The Mustangs crisp passing and good ball skills were evident throughout the game. Dan again takes a direct kick from the right side and finds the back of the net 2-0. Garden City boys achieved another great win. The coaches Joe Ancona, Mike Volpe and John Fodera were delighted with teams’ commitment to excellence.
