Garden City Wild Storm, the Centennials Girls U-13 Travel Team were Division Champs for the Spring 2004 season. The season started slow with two ties against Center Moriches and New Hyde Park. As the season progressed a series of changes helped solidify the team. Primarily, Jennifer Hoffman, emerged as the new goalie for the team. Her focus and dedication to her new position proved to be a great asset. This was not the only change. On any given game day, any number of girls would be absent for various reasons (usually other sports. This very unique group of young ladies learned to step up, fill in the gaps and work as a team. They proved that no team is successful because of any single player but each member of the team has an important role to play. This was never more evident than in the last game of the season. Wild Storm had to win this game against Sachem to be division champs. Four girls were missing so there was only one substitute and positions had to be shifted. The girls played their hearts out and never lost focus. They won the game and secured first place. What they learned this season was that every game counts and more important, every player counts. Wild Storm won their division and was also awarded the bronze chevron for sportsmanship. Each and every member of this team contributed to this outstanding season. The Fall season is looking very promising as Wild Storm kicked off the season with a 2-1 victory against Farmingdale. Wild Storm would like to welcome the newest member of the team, Kathryn Frumberg.
