Twisters Take Red Rockets!

Olivia Zimmer and Jessie Beh head for the goal. The Garden City Twisters (U-10 Girls) won the first game of their first Long Island Junior Soccer League season with a 7-1 victory against the Glen Cove Red Rockets on Saturday, September 11 th.

The Twisters controlled the ball from the start of the game. The Twisters’ speed, aggressiveness and hustle were the key factors that led to the victory. The first half defensive line, consisting of Lauren Coleman (1g), Kaitlyn Curtin (3a), Jenna Pasquale, Mimi Johnson and Meghan Raphael were relentless in pursuing the ball, defending the goal and getting the ball to the forward line. The first half forward line of Jessie Beh (3a), Nicole Bommarito, Haley Shannon (1g), Addie Zebrowski (3g), and Olivia Zimmer (1g) consistently beat the Red Rockets to the ball creating many scoring opportunities. Kathryn McDougal and Olivia Zimmer did a dynamite job in thwarting the offensive attacks by the Red Rockets saving all but one of the shots on goal.
