On May 8, 2004, the Garden City Community Fund held a “Celebration of Generations” at St. Paul’s Field House, commemorating the 135
th Anniversary of the Village of Garden City. The event was proposed and planned by an energetic group of village residents and sponsored by the following organizations:
Astoria Federal Savings Bank, Garden City Deli, Garden City Galleries, Garden City Pizza, Garden City Wines & Spirits, Harder Landscaping, Kings Supermarket, John Ellis Kordes Photography, Rafferty Capital
Some of our hard-working volunteers:Mrs. Katie Colavito, Amanda &Milessa Cody, Beth McGovern and Susan Gaugler.
Over a year in the planning stage, St. Paul’s Field house was decorated with memories of Garden City from it’s founding in 1869 up to today. The event was also designed to raise funds for the Garden City Community Fund, which over the years has assisted residents by allocating resources to select organizations that agree not to solicit in Garden City. The Garden City Community Fund’s quota and Admissions Committee reviews the financial information of each organization carefully to make sure they are in need of our support.
Residents enjoying themselves to the music of the band “Chaser”.
Hundreds of residents attended the evening affair, which included buffet, beverages and dancing. there was a fifty-fifty raffle, won by Joseph and Debbie Scattareggia, and music by the fabulous band “Chaser”, which by all accounts provided a spectacular backdrop to the evening.
The Garden City Community Fund would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the participants, sponsors, and Village Officials who assisted in what all agreed was an outstanding success.
