Chamber Expands Fall Festival

2004-09-24 / Community

Fabulous food and sidewalk sales ... moon bounce ... karaoke ... trackless train ... the Village Music Makers ... and stilt walker/entertainer, will be favorite features returning for the Garden City Chamber of Commerce’s 26 th annual Fall Festival Street Fair on Seventh Street, Saturday, October 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Added to the fun this year will be a second trackless 4-car train for the little ones ... baseball sports cage ... booths of festival games and prizes ... face painting, money cube ... barbershop quartet ... and inflata-hoops -- all components of the newly expanded Chamber event. Add to these activities Garden City High School’s Homecoming Day Parade to step off at 12:15.

Sponsors of this traditional community event include our Garden City Markets - Food Basket, Keyfood Marketplace and King’s Supermarket. This year, Seventh Street will be festively decorated with cornstalks sponsored by Chamber members. Member shops and businesses not located on Seventh Street, as well as community non-profit organizations must call the Chamber by October 5 to request space assignments. Seventh Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Fall Festival Street Fair was initiated by the Chamber in 1978 in conjunction with the High School’s Homecoming Day Parade. Over the years it has evolved into Garden City’s major all-community event. Stay tuned for further information.
