Garden City resident, Erin Quill will be appearing in “And The Earth Moved” with music, lyrics, and book by Tim Huang in the New York Musical Theatre Festival. The production is directed by Nina Zoie Lam. Performances will be on Sept. 25 at 8 p.m.; Sept. 26 and both 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. at the 45 th Street Theatre - Primary Stages, 345 W. 45 th St. (between 8 th and 9 th Ave).

Inspired by real events, “And The Earth Moved” is a through-the-rabbit-hole journey of self discovery that explores one Asian’s role in the American Experiment. Between clairvoyant 18-year-old truants, eccentric cross-dressing restaurateurs, and The First Chinese Pentecostal Church of Harlem Gospel Choir, everyone Will meets has something to teach him. But does he have anything to learn?

This new musical is based on 24 hours in the real life of the writer when he was left in limbo not knowing whether his parents were alive or dead. A finalist for the 2004 National Music Theater Network’s New Voices Prize and for Arielle Tepper’s “SPF” Summer Play Festival, “And The Earth Moved” has already made a stir.

Centered in the heart of the Theatre District, the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) is running over 21 days in 19 different venues. Featuring over 65 different productions with 280 performances and almost 1,000 performers and musicians, The New York Musical Theatre Festival is predicted to be the largest musical theatre event in New York City’s history.
