St. Paul’s Field Project Upsets POAs
The proposed installation of a fence and walking/jogging path on the St. Paul’s property without the approval of the property owners’ associations has angered the Estates and Central POAs. The incident reveals a communication problem between the associations and Recreation Commission, according to Trustee Jon Segerdahl.
At the September 9th Board of Trustees meeting, Estates POA President Thomas O’Rourke said he is against the path and did not approve the fence. According to Kevin Ocker, the Village’s director of recreation, approval was received from a representative of the Estates POA.
The issue was made more heated since a bid for the project was being advertised in newspapers the next day on September 10th. Ocker gave O’Rourke a fence sample at the meeting for his review. Any changes to the project can be sent to bidders in an addendum, according to Village Administrator Robert Schoelle.
At its June meeting, the CPOA passed two resolutions on the St. Paul's field issue. They unanimously opposed a fence bordering the property. In a 14-1 vote, the group supported a walking/jogging path that would broadly follow the boundaries of the playing fields. According to CPOA Director Bob Nouryan, a letter was sent to the Recreation Commission specifying the group’s position.
