Welcoming Club News

The Garden City Welcoming Club (formerly the Garden City Welcome Wagon) is pleased to announce the beginning of their new year. Here are some of the many exciting events that have been planned.

Bingo Philanthropic Bash...All Are Invited - you don’t have to be a member! Join the club on Wednesday, October 6 at 7:30 p.m. for an exciting evening of bingo with fabulous prizes, including cash, at Cherry Valley Club and help start off the year with a big bang for a philanthropic cause. The evening will include delicious hot and cold hors d’oeuvres and an assortment of desserts. A variety of vendors will be on hand for your shopping pleasure! Each participant will receive one bingo board for each game to be played. Purchase additional boards for $3 each and increase your chances to win! All proceeds from the purchase of additional boards will benefit a philanthropic cause. Come with your girlfriends, mothers and sisters for a night of shopping, fun and games. Children’s Bowling Party... Please join us on Thursday, September 16 th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for bowling fun at Sheridan Bowling Lanes, 199 East Jericho Turnpike, Mineola. The cost is $20 per child and includes bowling, shoe rental and lunch. If interested, please send your check to Sharon Cobb at 168 Brixton Road, Garden City.

Movie Night... The next mystery movie will be held on Monday, September 20 th at 7:30 p.m. at the Clearview Herricks Cinema located at 3324 Hillside Avenue in New Hyde Park. Please mail your check for $23 (which includes the movie, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and candy) to Cory Shafran at 7 Filbert Street in Garden City (please include phone number on your check).

Fall Wreath... Monday, September 27 th from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the library. Suzi from It’s Treemendous will be guiding the group as they create beautiful wreaths of the harvest colors of crimson and gold. You will need to bring wire cutters, scissors, glue gun, glue sticks and an extension cord. Please send your check in the amount of $39 to Tracey Lawson at 77 Poplar Street. Suzi will help your create a wreath to be proud of!

Membership.... All adult female residents of the village are welcome to join! If you are not yet a member, but would like to join, please contact Tricia Sarkis at 742-1165 and she will be happy to forward you a membership form. (Please make all checks payable to the Garden City Welcoming Club).
