Student Earns Black Belt

Alyssa Rosello, center, received her Dan certificate from Master Gina Quintano, left, and Master Charles Water. Alyssa Rosello, who will be entering the Middle School this fall, received her Cho-Dan certificate and her Black Belt on July 17 th at the Charles Water Karate Studio in Williston Park. Alyssa previously had taken a four-hour exam in April that consisted of terminology, form, kicking, wrist grabs, Moo Duk Kwan history, wood breaking, and punching and blocks. During the extensive exam, Alyssa performed each test flawlessly with the concentration and focus she learned from her five years of training.

Alyssa had stopped her training to focus on playing lacrosse and basketball but resumed after a short while with a renewed purpose of receiving her Black Belt. She has followed in the footsteps of her older brother Reid who earned his Black Belt last year. Alyssa also is an accomplished flute player, having passed her level 2 NYSSMA test in the spring, and has recently began competing in USTA tennis tournaments in the 12-and-under division.
