Resident Electors And Eastern Property Owners’ Association Joint Meeting
Tuesday, October 12, 2004 The Board of Directors of the EPOA has selected the following candidates for election to the Ten Member GC East Nominating Committee. This committee will propose candidates for Village-wide offices, Village Board of Trustees and School Board Trustees. These candidates will be voted on by eligible residents at the Joint Meeting of the Resident Electors of the East and the EPOA General Meeting on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. in the Main Meeting Room at the Garden City Library. Patrick Bradley , has been a Garden City resident for 13 years and is currently Regional Director of Citibank Security. He is a 20-year veteran of the New York City Police Department, serving as Police Officer and Sergeant before retiring in 2001 at the rank of Inspector. He is a graduate of St. John’s University and St. John’s Law School, and for five years worked as an off-duty attorney with the firm of Margiotta & Ricigliano. He and his wife, Ann Marie, are the parents of 3 children and are members of St. Joseph’s Church. Patrick is also involved in coaching his children’s basketball, soccer and baseball teams. Patrick has just started his first year as a Director of the EPOA. James T. Brady , has been a Garden City resident for 29 years. Jim is President of James. T. Brady, Inc., a medical advertising sales company, and past Director of the Heathcare Marketing Council. He is a graduate of St. John’s University and served in the US Army for two years. An active member of the community, Jim is Past President of the GC Jaycees, Garden City Little League, and the Eastern Property Owners’ Association (1996-1998); a former Director of the Garden City Athletic Association, a Director of the Garden City Men’s Association and Past President of theMineola-Garden City Rotary Club. He has served on the EPOA Board of Directors as Chairman of Streets and Traffic Committee and also as Treasurer. Jim has also served on the 10 Member Nominating Committee, in 2003 as its Chairman.Jim is currently Head Usher at St Joseph’s Church. Maureen Clancy, has been a Garden City resident since 1960. Maureen is a graduate of Rosemont College and is an independent insurance broker with offices in Garden City. She has served as a Village Trustee, Deputy Mayor and Commissioner of various Village departments. A Director, Secretary, Vice President and President of the EPOA, Maureen is also active in many community and civic organizations, including the Girl Scouts and St. Joseph’s parish. Maureen is a Past President of the Garden City Historical Society, a Past President of the G.C. Chamber of Commerce and Past President of the Mineola – Garden City Rotary Club. Maureen also serves as Secretary of Rotacare. Katie Colavito , is a lifelong resident of Garden City. Katie holds a BA in Business Management and Sociology from Molloy College. She has worked for Lazard Freres International and IBM Corporation. She has volunteered her time to several community organizations including: Chairperson of the Stewart School Book Swap and Book Fair, President of the GC Nursery School, and St. Joseph’s Precana and Religious Education programs. Katie is currently a Director of the EPOA and a board member of GC Community Council of Substance Abuse and Violence Prevention. She is married with three children. Sue Ellen Davis and her family have been residents of Garden City since 1977. Sue has been a Director of the EPOA since 1997 and has been actively involved in the community as an officer of Welcome Wagon, Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout leader, founding member of SAFE – the Subcommittee Against Freight Expansion, member of the Village’s Environmental Advisory Board since 1998 and is currently serving on the Board of the Garden City League Mercy Medical Center. John Delany , has been a resident of Garden City since 1971. John is a graduate of Villanova University and St. John’s Law School and is employed as an insurance executive. He served as a Director of the EPOA for 9 years as well as on its 10 Member and 7 Member Nominating Committees. Currently, John is Chairman of the Library Board of Trustees and is the Library Trustee serving the East. He is married, has three children with one daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter residing in the East. Dennis Donnelly , has been a Garden City resident for 39 years. Dennis is a graduate of Niagra University and is employed as the Director of Community relations for Verizon. He is starting his second year as a Director of the EPOA and is also a Director of the Garden City Chamber of Commerce. Dennis and his wife, Nancy, have three children who attend(ed) Garden City schools. Dennis is a former assistant coach with the Centennial Soccer program and is active in numerous other not-for-profit organizations on Long Island. T. Roger Eltringham , has been a Garden City resident since 1982 and has worked in the Village since 1970. He is Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Alliance Plus, a general insurance agency. Roger is a graduate of SUNY at Stony Brook and a member of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. He has served as Secretary, Vice President and President of the EPOA. Roger is active in the Village. He is a Past President and Past Lieutenant Governor of the Kiwanis Club. He is also Past President of the GC Jaycees, Past President of the Leukemia Society of America, Past President of the Board of Directors of the Cherry Valley Cooperative Apartments and is currently Secretary/Treasurer of the GC Chamber of Commerce. Since 1979, Roger has been the Race Director of the Annual Merrill Lynch Turkey Trot. He also chaired the 70th Anniversary of the Community Agreement celebration and organized the celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the founding of the Village. Nicholas Episcopia , has been a resident of Garden City for 31 years. He holds a BA from Fordham University and an MBA in Finance from Long Island University. He is currently Director of Acquisitions & Dispositions, WRA Properties, Inc. Nick is a member of the NY Mortgage Bankers Association and has been a guest speaker at the New York State Bar Association on Cooperatives and Condominiums. He served in the US Army as Captain and Executive Officer, Military Intelligence Company, 82nd Airborne Division. Nick has been a Director of the EPOA since 1973, including Vice President and immediate Past President. He has been active in many community organizations dating back to 1973: Past Director of the Men’s Association of GC High School, past Treasurer of St. Joseph’s Men’s Guild, Past President of GC Jaycees, canvasser for Community Fund, Director of LI Fordham Club. Nick was also Chairman of the EPOA Committee to Monitor Development Outside the Village and served on its 10 Member Nominating Committee. John Ernenwein has lived in Garden City since 1993 with his wife, Nancy, a lifelong resident of Garden City. John has a BS from Manhattan College and an MBA from Fordham University. He is a partner and Chief Operating Officer of P.A.W. Capital Partners, a $1 Billion investment management firm. John is the Co-Chairman of the Donald R. Broderick Scholarship Fund at Manhattan College. John coaches youth football and lacrosse in Garden City and is a Director of the GCAA on behalf of GC Thunder youth football program. John and Nancy have three children attending Garden City schools. Brian K. Finneran , a Garden City resident for the past four years, has a BBA from Baruch College and an MBA in Finance from Pace University. He has been employed for the past 14 years as an Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of State Bank of Long Island in Jericho. Brian is a board member of the Queensborough Community College Fund and the Futures in Education Foundation of the Brooklyn Diocese. He is also a Director of the Men’s Association of GC High School, member of St. Joseph’s Church and has been both a CYO basketball coach and GCAA baseball coach since living in the Village. He also coaches girls’ basketball at Our Lady of Hope Church in Middle Village, Queens. Brian is married to Dolores and they have three children attending Garden City schools. Janet Kenny , has been a Garden City resident since 1979. Janet is a graduate of St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing and Long Island University at C.W. Post. She was Past Assistant Director of Nursing at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Janet is also Past President of the Garden City Welcome Wagon, and served as PTA Director at both Stewart School and the Middle School as well as Vice President of the Garden City PTA. Janet has been active with the EPOA for many years having served as a Director and Treasurer. Frederick J. Magovern, is a lifelong resident of Garden City. Fred graduated from St. Joseph’s School, Garden City High School, Manhattan College and Fordham Law School. He is a partner in the New York City law firm Magovern and Sculsani. Fred is a member of the New York and Florida Bar Associations. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Buckley Country Day School, past GCAA soccer coach and member of the EPOA 7 Member Nominating Committee. Gerhardt Muller , a resident of Garden City for 34 years, was a Director of the EPOA for 9 years, including 4 years as Treasurer. He is currently a Professor, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Gerhardt worked for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for 29 years in various planning and operational positions (1968-1996). He also served as President and other council positions at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Garden City. He and his wife, Gisela, have been married 36 years. Their four sons all attended Garden City schools. Harrison Oellrich , has been a Garden City resident for 37 years. He graduated from Garden City High School and earned a BA in Political Science and an MBA in Management from Hofstra University. Harry is currently employed by Guy Carpenter & Co., Inc. as Managing Director. In recent years he has founded several public/private collaborative initiatives with the Federal Government and is sector coordinator for the insurance/reinsurance sectors working group of the President’s Critical Infrastructure Protection Board. He is a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Garden City, where he presently serves the congregation as 2nd Vice President, having served as President and as Chair of its Finance, Early Childhood Steering, Family Ministry and Pastoral Call committees. He is also a member of the Quechee Lakes Landowners’ Association and Director of the Landmark Village Property Owners’ Association in Quechee, Vermont. He is married to Roxanne and has three children attending GC schools. Harry is active coaching children’s athletics as a part of the Centennials and GCAA programs. M. John Pittoni, has been a resident of Garden City for 34 years. John is a graduate of Holy Cross College and Fordham Law School. He is a partner in the Garden City law firm of Pittoni, Bronchonsky and Zaino, and is a former chairman of the Nassau County Bar Association Finance Committee. John served as EPOA President from 1977-1980 and again from 1990-1991, and was named Chairman of the mayor’s Committee to Review Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Center’s group home application on Meadow Street. A former EPOA Director, John has served on various committees including the 7 and 10 Member Nominating Committees. Karl H. Schmidt, has beena resident of Garden City since 1976. Karl earned a BS and MBA from New York University. Karl worked for Chase Manhattan Bank for 30 years and since 1996 is president of Bristol Advisors, Inc., a financial consulting firm. He has been a Director of the EPOA since 1991, served as its liason with the Village’s Architectural Review Board and as a delegate at the Village’s School Board budget meetings. Karl is starting the 2004-2005 year as Treasurer and is married to Catherine. Robert H. Stark, Jr., is a lifelong resident of Garden City. Bob graduated from Garden City High School, received a BA in Business Administration from Gettysburg College and an MBA from Hofstra University. After working 14 years in Suffolk County, Bob has been providing financial solutions for Middle Market businesses during the last nine years for JPMorgan Chase Bank. Bob was a charter member of the Village’s Environmental Advisory Board representing the EPOA. He chaired the Air/Noise Committee and, through the Aircraft Noise Pollution subcommittee, was instrumental in reducing the number of aircraft overflying the Village. Bob has been a Director of the EPOA since 1998 and is currently starting his second term as Vice President. Robert “Rex” Wood has been a Director of the EPOA for two years. Along with his wife, he has raised 3 children in Garden City and has been involved in many community activities, including being a soccer and baseball coach as well as a Zone Chairman and District Captain for the GC Community Fund. Rex had a long career at Avon Products, serving in many different marketing and operations management functions. He also served 3 years as an officer in the Army Corps of Engineers. Albert Zafonte , has been a Garden City resident since 1995. He graduated from Oneonta State University with a BA in History and Political Science in 1981. After graduating from Syracuse University College of Law in 1985, Albert was in private practice as a negligence defense attorney from 1986-1996. He is currently a sole practitioner with an office in Uniondale, specializing in negligence, insurance law and real estate. He and his wife Kathy are raising two daughters who attend the Garden City public schools. Additional candidates for election to the 10 Member GC East Nominating Committee may be proposed by not less than 15 resident electors residing in the Eastern section of the Incorporated Village of Garden City, not later than 20 days prior to the October meeting, to be received by the Secretary of the EPOA (32 Claydon Rd.), a nominating petition setting forth the name and address of each such candidate, and also signed by each proposing elector, setting forth their names and addresses.
